  • May 1938

    Established Suzuki Metal Shoukou Co., Ltd. at Kameido-cho (now Koto-ku) with President Kinzaburo Suzuki and Senior Managing Director Yutaro Murayama.

    October 1938

    Succeeded in producing Japan's first domestic piano wire.

    August 1940

    Changed company name to Suzuki Metal Industry Co., Ltd.

    January 1943

    Acquired a new facility in Akabane, Oji-ku (now Kita-ku), and became a designated munitions manufacturer.

  • August 1945

    Consolidated production to Akabane at the end of World War II and transitioned to peacetime manufacturing.

    February 1946

    Transferred head office to Fukuro-machi, Oji-ku (now Akabane, Kita-ku).

  • April 1955

    Established Piano Wire Industries Co., Ltd.

    March 1957

    Began over-the-counter sales of stock on Tokyo Stock Exchange.

    April 1959

    Opened Nagoya Branch at Shin Nagoya Bldg. South, 3-19 Hirokoji-nishidori, Nakamura-ku, Nagoya City.

    November 1960

    Began construction of production facility at Narashino City, Chiba Prefecture, in conjunction with Yawata Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. (now Nippon Steel Corporation).

    October 1961

    Listed on the second section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

    November 1962

    Initiated operations at Narashino Works.

    June 1964

    Recognized as an export contributing company by the Minister of International Trade and Industry.

    Established Osaka Branch in Nippon Steel Real Steel Bldg. at Utsubo-honmachi, Nishi-ku, Osaka City.

    April 1970

    Established the Head Office in Daiichi Steel Bldg. at 1-8-2, Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.

    November 1973

    Established Thai Special Wire Co., Ltd., a joint venture with a subsidiary company in Thailand.

    Made the dies section an independent company by establishing Tokyo Dies Industries Co., Ltd.

    February 1978

    Made the transportation and packaging section an independent company by establishing Koyo Kosan Corporation.

    May 1983

    Began manufacturing at Ichikawa Seiren Co., Ltd. in Narashino.

    July 1983

    Transferred Head Office from Akabane, Kita-ku, to Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku.

    August 1983

    Transferred Akabane Works, Nitto Kinzoku Kogyo Co., Ltd. and Tokyo Dies Industries Co., Ltd. to Narashino.

    Achieved 3.6 million hours without an accident, and received a first class accident-free record certificate from the Labor Standards Bureau.

    March 1993

    Established Muroran Suzuki Co., Ltd. in Muroran City, Hokkaido, and began manufacturing of oil tempered wire for suspension parts.

    May 1996

    Transferred the Osaka Branch to Daisan Fuji Bldg. at 1-3-13 Itachibori, Nishi-ku, Osaka City.

    July 1996

    Acquired ISO9001 certification for oil tempered wire (Certifying body: JICQA).

    September 1997

    Began a land lease to Delica Chef Corporation.

    Acquired stock of West Japan Stainless Steel Wire Co., Ltd.

    November 2000

    Began a land lease to Laox Co., Ltd.

    February 2001

    Acquired ISO 9001 certification.

    Completed the second update of ISO9001 and transition to the 2000 version.

    May 2005

    Transferred the Head Office Sales Division to the Marunouchi Central Bldg., 1-9-1 Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.

    August 2006

    Completed payment for new stock issue of \1.9 billion by third party allocation to Nippon Steel Co., Ltd. (now Nippon Steel Corporation).

    February 2007

    Made the stainless business an independent company by establishing Suzuki-Sumiden Stainless Steel Wire Co., Ltd.

    August 2007

    Held the first Suzuki Metal Group charity summer festival.

    Established the prize for Suzuki Metal Industry community contribution, now simply known as the Suzuki Award, and held the first awards ceremony.

    June 2009

    Completed acquisition of Haldex Garphyttan AB stock and established Suzuki Garphyttan AB.

    June 2009

    Became a consolidated subsidiary of Nippon Steel Corporation with a new stock issue of \3.6 billion, funded by third party allocation.

    July 2009

    Merged Nitto Kinzoku Kogyo Co., Ltd., Tokyo Dies Industries Co., Ltd. and Koyo Kosan Corporation, and established SKK Technology Co., Ltd.

    January 2010

    Transferred the Osaka Branch to Daini Fuji Bldg., at 1-5-15 Utsubo-honmachi, Nishi-ku, Osaka City.

    March 2011

    Acquired 51% of the stock of Thai Special Wire Co., Ltd. and made it a consolidated subsidiary.

    April 2011

    Merged SKK Technology Co., Ltd. with Piano Wire Industries Co., Ltd.

    February 2014

    Acquired British shaped wire maker KTS Wire Limited and made it a consolidated subsidiary.

    September 2015

    Became a wholly owned subsidiary of Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (now Nippon Steel Corporation).

    October 2015

    Changed company name to Nippon Steel & Sumikin SG Wire Co., Ltd.

    Changed company name to Nippon Steel SG Wire Co., Ltd.

    April 2024

    Nippon Steel SG Wire Co., Ltd. merged with Muroran Suzuki Co., Ltd.and renamed it Muroran Plant.
