Contributing to Global Development
by Providing High-Quality Wire

Nippon Steel SG Wire Group is the world's number one wire manufacturer, celebrating 85 years in business this year. The origins of our manufacturing began with Suzuki Metal Industry in 1938. In the early stage of our history, between founding and growing, we were the first company in Japan to successfully produce piano wire domestically. After the war, we developed oil-tempered (OT) wire for automotive applications, and with the opening of our Narashino Plant in 1962, we provided support for Japanese industry during the ensuing period of rapid economic growth.

In our second stage, the 2000s, the company entered a period of development and advancement. We acquired Garphyttan, the world's largest OT wire manufacturer at the time, expanded into the Southeast Asian market by making Thai Special Wire Co., LTD. of Thailand a consolidated subsidiary, and joined the Nippon Steel Group to become the world's strongest wire manufacturer in both name and fact.

Now, in the midst of the once-in-a-century changes that the world is facing, our group is entering its third period of transformation. We will continue to contribute to people's lives and to global development by providing stronger, more flexible and higher quality wire to meet the needs of our customers—not only in automotive parts, which is our specialty, but also in a variety of other fields including machinery, electric appliances, construction, daily necessities and medical care.

Our founder, Yutaro Murayama, emphasize the importance of taking on challenges without fear of failure, saying, "Maintaining the status quo is a step backward," and this philosophy has remained strong in our company to the present day. As reflected in our corporate philosophy, "Sincerity and Harmony," we recognize that sincerity and harmony are fundamental to human society. If we have this spirit, we can overcome any difficulty and open new paths forward. I am convinced that this desire and determination to take on the challenges of manufacturing has been key to our unrivaled ability to manufacture and sell products. Our strengths are this spirit in our DNA, integrated manufacturing with Nippon Steel, our global network, and above all, our wonderful manufacturing colleagues in the workplace, engineering, sales and management.

Even though the times are changing, we will continue to develop our individuality, increase the unity of our organization, and work as one to meet the trust and expectations of our customers by valuing people and building a safe and secure work environment, and by uniting all group members around the world. Together, we look forward to the future achievements of the Nippon Steel SG Wire Group.
